Thank you for the quick response!
I would very much like that social spot!
I am indeed aware of my lack of gear, and I don't expect you guys to do all the work for me by dragging me through things you've worked hard to achieve.
I got what I was hoping for, a foot in the door of the guild I picked.
Found you guys on the wow-forum and from what I could see this seemed like the right place for me to be. And judging from the down to earth, honest yet respectfull reply I got, I chose right.
I look forward to gearing up by myself while within your ranks. Hope I manage to catch up to a somewhat usefull ilvl soon. If not, there's always Legion. ;)
Talk to you in-game.
Hello Oshene and thanks for applying. As you are probably aware yourself your gear is sub-optimal even for some Hfc hc encounters,so we cannot offer you a spot to our main raids. That being said your application is one of the best written applications we ever had the opportunity to read. In addition, your impressive wow raiding experience has lead the officer squad to offer you a spot as a social,if you choose to accept. We would like to invest on you maybe for later on,or even Legion, which means we can give you a spot on some of our Hc runs and you can join on our Alt runs. if you are interested add me on Bnet Mitskoc#2276,if not we wish you the best of luck in your search of a raiding guild.
My name is Yanick and I'm a 29 year old stay at home dad finally ready to step back into raiding, due to my baby son finally being less of an energy-drain.
I live in Belgium, the dutch-speaking part and english is not my native language so you'll have to excuse any typo's and such.
What is your previous raiding experience?Any achievments you are proud of? (Can be from an old expansion raid):
Vanilla : All but Naxx
TBC : All raids, was hardcore Paladin maintank
Wotlk : Naxx, Ulduar and got a burnout due to lack of proper raid content.
Cata : Very casual pugs and lfr's.
MoP : Brewmaster maintank for semi-hardcore (then) heroic friend-guild up untill beginning SoO, then casual due to highly pregnant wife.
WoD : Very casual, very little raid experience. Stay at home father so baby boy took up most of my energy/time.
Which class and spec(s) do you play?:
Loads of hardcore & semi-hardcore tanking experience and even though I have played casual retri in pugs and lfr this expansion, I would like to again tank. Mostly end up tanking anyway, whatever spec I choose. Since I can't stand seeing a bad tank, I'd rather go do it myself.
That said if you'd rather gear me, or keep me as a retribution paladin I'd still be glad to fill that spot. But know you can expect a whisper should your current tanks come short, or make too many basic tanking mistakes like bad boss/mob placement, tanks not standing on eachother when taunting off eachother, or simply refusing to pay attention to not have their backs to mobs, etc. Things like that push my buttons, I'm affraid.
Currently our raiding days are Wed, Sun, Mon 9 to 12 pm server time. Which days are you able to attend?:
I am able to attend all, and if not I'm used to having to report it on a forum or ingame to a superior.
What do your think you class/spec can offer to the raid?:
The class can often offer more than most players bring to the table. A paladin is versatile and a usefull addition to any raid, if you ask me.
Wether dps tank or holy, there is no excuse for a paladin to not watch the raidframes in search for somebody that can use a hand of sacrifice, freedom or protection or even a quick heal. 1 GCD of a paladin can keep a fellow raider from being dead, and useless.
Describe your rotation, use of cooldowns:
In the retribution paladin's case it's more of a priority list than a rotation.
1. Final verdict if capped holy power
2. Execution Sentence
3. Hammer if wings or target below 35%
Could you please share some of your previous logs?:
As mentioned above I had little to no experience in the current expansion. That said I am not the kind of player which finds it respectfull in any way to show up to a raid unprepared. Wether it's tactics, flasks, foodbuffs, or general class knowledge, a player should not waste the other raid-members' time because he didn't MAKE the time to do these things, out of common respect.
Note that even though I am rusty and undergeared, I have always been a quick learner and have many players that would vouch for me being the only tank they'd step into a raid with. (If they didn't quit wow..) And I think that speaks for something. If nothing more I'd like for a chance to prove myself.
How do you keep up to date with your class and raid content tactics?:
I've played the class since the first weeks of vanilla WoW, without trying to sound arrogant there isn't much left to the imagination for me. I pretty much know the class in and out, it'd be weird if I didn't after playing the thing for the better part of 10 years. I'm pretty sure I can even still show you my tanking tree from back in TBC, and passionately explain why a prot pala should NEVER pick reckoning contrary to common belief.
That said I am not above checking guides more pasionate people have written about the class to fill in the gaps, should I come short. I'm fairly certain I will have no other choice once the Legion pre-patch hits, since it'll shake things up quite a bit for paladins.
As for raid tactics, I prefer Fatboss and LineOfSightGaming.
The guild is full of "X class/spec" would you consider changing your spec?:
Why did you leave your old guild?:
Last proper raiding guild was in MoP and they took off because most of them were mature players over the age of 30 and they got tired of being ganked by infants while questing, so they moved to a pve server.
Please provide a link to your armory:
We are using Teamspeak 3 to communicate. Do you have a headset available?:
Do you know other players who would like to join? Or have friends whom you would like to include aswell?:
Not at this time. Thank you for reading.
